To The Stars / Ki ngā Whetū is a spectacular community celebration marking the opening of the Waikato Regional Theatre. This original stage production has been created through the hands, voices, and imaginations of the Waikato community, bringing together whānau, schools, kapa haka groups, choirs, musicians, dancers, and makers of every kind in a shared act of creation.

Audiences are invited on a journey of storytelling, music, and movement that speaks of discovery, joy, power, loss, and love. Directed by Jeremy Mayall and Courteney Mayall, the show combines intimate narratives with vibrant spectacle, showcasing the creativity and spirit of the region in a way that could only happen here.

Performances run from 19 to 21 January 2026 and form the official opening of the Waikato Regional Theatre. This world premiere is a living testament to what happens when a community gathers to dream, build, and perform together, reaching for the stars that connect us all.
