The biggest names in darts are set to visit Hamilton in 2019 after the announcement that Claudelands Arena will host New Zealand's World Series of Darts event.
The NZ Darts Masters will take place on August 23-24, as eight top stars line up against eight Oceanic qualifiers in the two-day tournament.
On Friday August 23 the NZ Darts Masters will begin with the eight first round ties, as the PDC stars face the Oceanic representatives.
The tournament will then conclude on Saturday August 24 with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in one bumper session of action at Claudelands Arena.
The eight PDC stars are likely to include world number one Michael van Gerwen, the 2018 Auckland Darts Masters winner, and popular Peter “Snakebite” Wright, with the competitors to be confirmed in early 2019.
"Darts has been growing across New Zealand in recent years and we felt this was the right time to visit a new venue, and the Claudelands Arena looks an ideal destination for the World Series of Darts," said PDC Chief Executive Matthew Porter.
“There’s always a fantastic atmosphere wherever we take the World Series of Darts, and this is a brilliant opportunity for sports fans to enjoy the unique live experience of top-class darts at New Zealand’s biggest darts party."
